Australian Population Health Congress - July 2008
A number of SCIPPS presentations were given at the Australian Population Health Congress held in Brisbane in July of 2008. Individuals presented on culturally and linguistically diverse patients’ experiences with health services; health service issues of those with chronic illness; care coordination models in policy actions for type 2 diabetes in Australia; and internal validity in health policy analysis. Along with these oral presentations, a poster presentation was given on nursing in general practice in Australia, and the following paper was accepted as a long paper for publication on the Congress website

9th Global Forum on Bioethics in Research - December 2008
In early December members of the SCIPPS Team and representatives from the Aboriginal Medical Service (Mt Druitt) were involved in a panel discussion on the recruitment of Indigenous and culturally and linguistic diverse individuals from Western Sydney to the Serious and Continuing Illness Policy and Practice Study (SCIPPS). The presentation was well received by conference participants from a variety of countries who gained invaluable advice on overcoming inclusion barriers in health policy research.
Presentation at the University of Michigan
In November 2008 Clive Aspin gave a presentation on chronic illnesses in Australia at the Centre for Chronic Disease Management of the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In the presentation Clive gave insights from the Serious and Continuing Illness Policy and Practice Study.
