NHMRC Health Services Research Program Grant
Drawing on extensive work from both Australia and overseas, the SCIPPS will aim to create interventions that directly affect inappropriate admissions to acute care facilities for people in the program study groups, to measure the effect of these interventions on the quality of life of the participants and the financial consequences to the health services, and to design systems which will secure these interventions into ongoing models of care.
The SCIPPS will describe the current care actually provided, identify the gaps against accepted best practice, locate the clinical and system barriers to care and engage policy workers in practical proposals about how best to use the currently available resources to achieve better health outcomes.
The SCIPPS will develop Australia’s capacity to conduct priority-driven research and develop policies in health service arrangements.
More detailed information on the research proposal can be found here in an abstract from the application to the NHMRC. The NHMRC's response to reviewers can be found here.
